Volkswagen - My Favorite Things

Wednesday, March 8th was National Women's Day. The theme this year was “Women in leadership: achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”. During the pandemic, many women have been leaders at the front lines. They have been an inspiration in healthcare, innovators, community organizers and caregivers. This year, many brands showed their support for National Women's Day through ad campaigns. 

The Volkswagen - My Favorite Things campaign is very empowering. It features a race car driver speeding recklessly and doing sharp turns and donuts. This advertisement tricks viewers into believing that this clip is a race-car advertisement. At the end of the ad, the driver takes off their helmet, and it is a young woman. A series of words pop up on the screen showing this young woman's accomplishments. In addition to being a professional race car driver, she is also a med student and NCC cadet. This ad campaign was created to empower diversity and change.
