Top Three Super Bowl LV Ads
Alisha Kumar
If you’re like me, you watch the Super Bowl for the ads. I don’t think I’ve ever really sat down to watch the actual game, since football just isn’t my thing. For me, the ads are the highlight of the night. Brands spend millions of dollars to get in front of a huge audience for mere seconds. And, viewers are actually excited for these ads. They wait for them like a yearly tradition. The buzz even starts weeks before the big day.
Here’s a round up of my top three Super Bowl LV ads:
1. Upstream
In this 60-second spot created by Saatchi and Saatchi for Toyota, it tells the story of Jessica Long, a Paralympic swimmer who was adopted from Russia. This ad doesn’t show Toyota cars even once, but with an emotional story, it is able to grab the attention of viewers and inspire them to overcome any difficulties going on in their lives.
2. It Wasn’t Me
Put together by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Cheetos’ spot featured Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, and Shaggy with a remix of Shaggy’s popular song, “It Wasn’t Me.” Hitting on nostalgia, it definitely got people smiling and grooving.
3. Underdogs
Reddit disrupted screens with its five-second ad created in collaboration with R/GA. Acknowledging how expensive Super Bowl ads are and expressing the power of its communities, it created tons of buzz, standing out amongst other Super Bowl ads for being different.
